It could be argued that these are disheartening times for an individual who values the written word. Students of elite colleges struggle to even make a dent in the reading lists for their degrees; everyone and their mother uses artificial intelligence to write everything from emails to essays, and the only things your kid cousin appears to be able to read are the sparse words that pop up in the brainrot slop he is consuming on his iPad all day.

All the more reason, I say, to make a point of regularly picking up a book and even indulging in a bit of writing yourself. As frustrating as the editing process or the infamous writer's block can be, flexing that creative muscle can only be good for you in the long run mentally and emotionally. Who knows, if you really stick with it maybe you will even manage to get something published. You've got memes to look at first, though.
